Knife Crime Concert in Brum

A huge concert has been held for school children in Birmingham today to try and tackle knife crime.

More than 5000 students from around the West Midlands came to the NIA for U-R-A Star? It is part of a campaign by West Midlands Police to get them to think about the dangers of carrying a blade. it also focused on other teen issues from pregnancy to bullying.

The event aimed to build confidence, respect and increase self-esteem in young people so they can make informed decisions in life.

Brummie rapper "Witness" aka Adrian Burke headlined the concert. He told brmb: "It's getting young people to have a healthy opinion of themselves, and to look at themselves and say you know I am better than this, I'm a star.

"If you carry a knife, you're in more danger of getting that knife used on you, or you actually using it thinking that it's for self-defense and you ending up being in court for manslaughter or violent crime."
