J

Up for work, or just can't sleep - J's here to see that all you early risers across Birmingham are sorted for the best music in town.

J says, "I've lived in Birmingham all my life and enjoy chatting to night shift workers and playing their favourite records, especially when it's something that you haven't heard in years."

After finishing a biology degree at Birmingham University in 2001, J started at BRMB doing work experience, and learnt to make a great cup of tea!  From there he ran the travel centre, and then produced The Big Brum Breakfast: "working for Elliott Webb for 6 months was more than I could handle!"

J's been on the nightshift for over two years now, but you may have also heard him with Caroline Martin on "The Sanctuary" back in 2005 (this was usually just an excuse to hook up with Caroline Martin for a good gossip). Also look out for Caroline & J ghost walking on the regular Fright Nights at all the local "haunts".

When he's not in the studio, J likes to meet his mates in the bars of Broad Street and Brindley place, or a pint in his local in Stourbridge.  J also is a big fan of going to the cinema - although oddly his favourite film is Silence of the Lambs - look closely to his plate next time he is eating fava beans, and drinking Chianti!

J's other main passion is travelling, and when he's not here in Birmingham, you might catch him walking the Great Wall of China, driving along Route 66, or hanging out on the beaches of Australia - in fact getting J to shut up about his travelling tales is a task in itself!

At 2.20am J's got a new game - Play On Words - click here for more.

A 3am it's the Hall of Fame:  half an hour of tunes and memories, and songs we guarantee you haven't heard in ages, but every one of them is brilliant.

And new at 3.45am, it's a question about the bizarre facts of the world - click here for What The Facts That...

Plus if you're out and about during the weekend, you can catch J first thing on a Saturday morning between 6 and 10, and also on a Sunday afternoon between 1 and 4.

If you'd like J to play your favourite song; or you fancy a mention; or you just want to say hi, drop him an e-mail using the form below. He'd love to hear from you...
