I have mixed feelings on this, as I am holding my own womens event (www.women-unlimited.co.uk). It is my expectation that we would have a few men at the event, but the audience will be predominantly female.

I thought about whether men should be excluded from both the website and the event, but I think if we do this we are closing ourselves off to a tremendous amount of good information and relationships. So I have decided to welcome men both as visitors and contributors. So, if you're a man, feel free to visit the website, contribute articles of value and buy a ticket to our event :D - the only thing that we ask is that you respect the women in our group.

I agree with the complaint and I take my hat off to any man who is wishing to go to a predominantly female event (as I'm sure it will be). Surely in this day and age it is not acceptable to exclude men?

Or maybe the organisers have offered it as a marketing ploy to test our reactions and generate debate and publicity?!

As the Co-founder of Leave it to the Ladies.com a internet directory for women in business, I do feel a little put out about this event.
We do use our site to promote women in business unashamedly but would not exclude men, we offer a choice and allow the user to choose who they want in there homes.
I understand and agree that smaller events i.e. networking groups etc should be just women if thats what people want to do but this is an event that can help change men v women and even change attitudes - a chance missed I feel.
However good luck to all that attend.

Certainly it is not sexist - there are times when meetings and situations are more productive when subjects are discussed by a same sex conference or meeting.

After all 'Women in Business' was formed for
help women succeed in a very male orientated
business world - and unfortunately it generally still is. I work for and with
several large international companies - and their whole Boards are made up entirely of
men, although at least 40/50% of the staff
are women. ? do these companies consider themselves, sexist ?

It is time we realised that there is a place for men and women in the workplace, but that does not necessarily mean that because the Chairman or Board consists purely of male or female members - they are sexist. However, it has come to my notice that a female Chairman [and I am not p.c.] generally has a mixed sex team working with her - where as a
male Chairman usually has an all male team.

So why can't Women in Business be just that without all this p.c. rubbish cropping up - it's good to be different !

Hi there

There are black newspapers and magazine, doesn't mean to say if you are white you can't pick it up and read it. Gay Pride, you don't have to be gay to go there. A muslim can walk into a church. I don't think its necessary to say men are not allowed to attend at all but of course those conferences have every right to be there. Lets face it women have been shut out of quite alot through no choice of there own because its been a 'mans world'. Lets face it there are still clubs, organisations and more that still do shut out women. But all that aside there are many different groups within out society thats obvious so why not just accept that and stop trying to be politically correct all the time. Its natural women to want to have time just with women and like wise for men its been like that for thousands of years why try to change that, respect it, its who we are. Its not necessary to ban men but they should respect the fact that it is our right to hold such a conference.

I think it ridiculous and outdated and I am sick of it all! I enjoy working with men. I like men. Women want it all their own way these days. For goodness sake, GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your time.

Men wanting to join in this event are perverts!

Can't us women be left alone to be ourselves in a single-sex environment without a man trying to ruin our efforts? Men have historically benefitted from single-sex environments and now us women are being called sexist. So men are as usual trying to pervert the natural order of things. If women want to hang out with other women, to the exclusion of men, then that is surely what they should be allowed to get. Perverting the natural order and butting in is something women have yet to be accomplished at.

A pot and a kettle spring to mind!
