Legend Paul McGrath returns to Villa Park on Saturday to help raise a record amount of money for Acorns Children’s Hospice
If you’re going to Villa’s clash with Newcastle on Saturday, you can be part of a special World Record attempt. Former defender Paul McGrath will be on the pitch at half time to encourage fans to text “AVFC12 £3” to 70070. Every penny will go to Acorns and fans can even use Gift Aid to increase their donation. Villa and Acorns are hoping to set a record for the most amount of money raised by fans during a Premier League game.
Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor was delighted to accept the role as Ambassador for Acorns: “As soon as I heard about it, I thought I’d take it up straight away, it’s a privilege for me. I’ve got kids myself and know how hard it must be for parents who have to be there every day for their kids”.
David Strudley, the Chief Executive of Acorns, explained why it’s so important they raise money: “These Children’s lives are limited, they will die before they grow up, the only thing we can do for them is to make sure the lives they lead are as full as possible”
